TURKISH KEBAB

Who has never heard of shish kebab? In Turkish, shish kebab, literally means “gobbets of meat roasted on a spit or skewers.” Probably the most famous preparation for grilled lamb, there seems to be countless recipes. It is said that shish kebab was born over the open field fires of the soldiers of the Turkic tribes that first invaded Anatolia, who used their swords to grill meat, as they pushed west from their homelands in Central Asia. The city's original position on Mount Mycale has never actually been discovered; however, it is believed that it was a peninsula possessing two harbours. Priene never held a great deal of political importance due to the city's size, as it is believed around 4 to 5 thousand inhabitants occupied the region. The city was arranged into four districts, firstly the political district which consisted of the  bouleuterion  and the  prytaneion , the cultural district containing the  theatre , the commercial where the  agora  was located and finally the religious district which contained sanctuaries dedicated to  Zeus  and  Demeter  and most importantly the Temple of Athena. Miletus   was an  ancient ...

It is a stunning area of other-worldly rock formations, subterranean churches and underground dwellings, the scale of which is over-whelming.Cappadocia is a geological oddity of honeycombed hills and towering boulders of otherworldly beauty. The fantastical topography is matched by the human history here.People have long utilised the regions soft stone, seeking shelter underground and leaving the countryside scattered with fascinating troglodyte-style architecture.Cappadocia was a refuge for the early Christians, who escaped persecution by living and worshipping underground. There are an estimated 3000 rock churches in this region, not all of which are open to the public The village of Goreme itself is at the heart of the areas tourist industry, and many of its villagers still live in cave dwellings, some of which have been converted into pensions.
