ISTANBUL TOUR FROM IZMIR (3 DAYS 2 NIGHTS)

FIRST DAY
Departure from Izmir Airport to Istanbul Airport.
Pick up from Istanbul Airport to hotel (in the center) and stay overnight.

SECOND DAY
After breakfast, 08:30 We will pick you upfrom the hotel (city center hotels). Then you will meet with your group andguide at the meeting point. We will visit Hippodrome, Hagia Sophia, BlueMosque, Grand Bazaar, Topkapi Palace, Sultan Tombs. End of the tour we will dropyou off to your hotel.

Hippodrome
 - The center of sport activites in Constantinople,capital of the Byzantine empire, today named Sultanahmet Meydani with its four monuments; The German Fountain of Wilhelm II, Egyptian Obelisk, Serpentine Column (Spiral column), Column of Constantine.
Blue Mosque - Unique with its 6 minarets built in the name ofSultan Ahmet which was until 19th century traditional point for the pilgrimageto Mecca (closed on Friday).
Hagia Sophia - The most famous Christian church in Turkey,one of the greatest marvels of architecture, which was constructed as a basilica inthe 6th century by Emperor Justinian (closed on Monday).
Grand Bazaar - The most attractive shopping centre in the world with nearly 4000 shops, selling antique, jewellery, gold, carpets, leather wear and souvenirs (closed on Sunday).
Lunch (Drinks are extra) - You can choose kebab, pide, desert such as baklava and other delicious Turkish traditional food.
Sultan Tombs - Tucked around the back of Hagia Sophia. There arefive tombs of sultans; Sultan Selim II, Sultan Murad III, Sultan Mehmed III, SultanMustafa I, Sultan Ibrahim I (closed on Monday).
Topkapi Palace -The residence of Ottoman Sultans. See theimperial treasury,sacred Islamic relics,palace kitchens,Chineseporcelain,weapons (closed on Tuesday)

After tour back to hotel and stay overnight. 

THIRD DAY
After breakfast 08:30 We will pick youup from hotel(city center hotels),then you will meet with your group and guideat the meeting point. We will visit City Walls(by bus), Golden Horn(by bus), SpiceBazaar. After visiting Spice Bazaar we will cruise on Bosphorus where we willsee from the sea Ciragan Palace,Ortakoy Mosque,Military High School, RumeliFortress. End of the tour we will drop you off to your hotel.

City Walls - Built by Constantine the Great, they have surrounded and protected the city of Constantinople.
Golden Horn - It has long been a natural harbour of the city. The Horn was the favoured meeting of the sweet waters.
SpiceBazaar (Egyptian Bazaar) - The air here is filled with the enticing aromas of cinnamon, caraway, mint, saffron.
Bosphorus by boat - An amazing cruise between Europe (Ortakoy) and Asia(Beylerbeyi Palace), along the Bosphorus by the Ciragan Palace, Ortakoy Mosque, Military High School, Rumeli Fortress.
The Rumeli Fortress - Castle was built by Mehmet II to prevent the Byzantine fleet, which had control of the Bosphorus, from communicating with its northern allies.

TURKISH KEBAB

Who has never heard of shish kebab? In Turkish, shish kebab, literally means “gobbets of meat roasted on a spit or skewers.” Probably the most famous preparation for grilled lamb, there seems to be countless recipes. It is said that shish kebab was born over the open field fires of the soldiers of the Turkic tribes that first invaded Anatolia, who used their swords to grill meat, as they pushed west from their homelands in Central Asia. Given the obvious simplicity of spit-roasting meat over a fire, I suspect its genesis is earlier. There is iconographical evidence of Byzantine Greeks cooking shish kebabs. But surely the descriptions of skewering strips of meat for broiling in Homer’s  Odyssey  must count for an early shish kebab.     In the Arab world, the same preparation is called  shish kabab  or  lahm mishwy  (grilled meat).
